Empowered Women for Social Integration Project

“Empowered Women for Social Integration” project aimed at tackling the issue of social integration of women through engaging them in entrepreneurship sphere, helping them obtain new skills and revealing their potentials in business management in the three EaP countries: Armenia, Belarus and Moldova.

The project started in May, 2016 and lasts till November, 2016. It empowered women (also women with disabilities) to bring change to the society, thus having their contribution in developing of business environment in rural communities of the mentioned countries.

Project was implemented under Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum (EaP CSF) Re-granting Scheme by Martuni Women’s Community Council (Armenia) in cooperation with Migrant Families NGO (Moldova) and Office for European Expertise and Communications (Belarus).

The project objectives were:

  • Introducing the culture of entrepreneurship among women
  • Providing basic skills in insight of entrepreneurship, promotion of business-thinking
  • Inclusion of women in business practices (also women with disabilities)
  • Development of entrepreneurship management skills
  • Development of entrepreneurial ideas and plans

The role of women in rural societies is limited to the fulfillment of household duties but the gender equality states that women and men should be treated equally in the society and are equal also in terms of employment opportunities. Women might have the potential to develop their own ideas and make them into real life therefore becoming a little bit closer to the notion of integrated and developed society.

The project aimed at developing entrepreneurial skills and opportunities for women with the aim of engaging women of Gegharkunik marz in Armenia, Centre and South region in Moldova and 6 rural settlements in Belarus (Gomel oblast, Vitebsk oblast, Brest oblast, Mogilev oblast, Grodno oblast, Minsk oblast) in entrepreneurship development issues and with the aim of involving women in social and economic activities of their regions.

Through its Re-granting Scheme, the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum (EaP CSF) supports projects of EaP CSF members with a regional dimension that will contribute to achieving the mission and objectives of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum. The donors of the re-granting scheme are the European Union, National Endowment for Democracy and Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
